Lasting Powers of Attorney

If you wish to appoint someone to look after your property and affairs and/or your personal welfare and healthcare once you become incapable of doing so, we can prepare the necessary documents for your signature. It is often useful to make a Lasting Power at the same time that you make your Will. We can discuss your wishes and explain the implications of appointing an Attorney.

How it works

A Lasting Power of Attorney is a document by which you appoint one or more people you can trust to act on your behalf.

There are two types of Lasting Powers of Attorney. One enables your Attorney to deal with your property and affairs. The other appoints your Attorney to look after your personal welfare and healthcare if you should become unable to do so. You can have one type of Lasting Power of Attorney without the other.

In either case the Lasting Power of Attorney has to be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian before it can be used. We can arrange for this registration.
